Some details about the Syndesmos Festival 2011

The event is taking place from 2nd to 9th August in Saint-Maurin, Rians, southern France, on the theme "Joy everlasting". The week will be organized as followed:

·         Tuesday 2nd is the arrival day, with registration and meeting each other

·         Wednesday 3rd, Thursday 4th, Friday 5th, and Monday 8th will be  typical days

Those typical days will start with the matins before having breakfast, then we’ll have different times of sharing all along the day (two in the morning, one in the afternoon):

-          Bible study in small groups,
-          Discussions with the whole group and conferences from the keynote speakers,
-          Workshops in small groups,
-          Etc.

Archimandrite Grigorios Papathomas will deliver a keynote speech on The Communion of Persons as Real Joy.

Provisional titles of the other keynote speeches will be announced soon.

Each speaker will develop a specific topic reliant to the main theme of the event: “Joy everlasting”.
Moreover, we invited some “resource persons” who will also take part in the discussions and will lead the Bible studies, workshops, etc.

At noon, we’ll be given 2 hours for lunch followed by free time (break, walk, nap, chat, …)
After the afternoon programme, choir rehearsals will be organized for those who want to participate and sing during services.

Then, before dinner, we’ll have vespers (replaced by vigils and liturgy on Friday evening).

And for ending the day in the joyously, , we’ll have a free evening programme to enjoy ourselves all together in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere : )

·         Saturday 6th will be a full day of excursion to discover the region (or brain-relaxing day)

·         Sunday 7th will be a very special day:  the Liturgy will be followed by a Syndesmos presentation and a panel discussion to which speakers and audience from the region will be invited.

·         Finally, Tuesday 9th will be the departure day, the last but not least as it’ll be the starting point for even greater and greater events to come!
